Meta Expands Monetization Opportunities for Content Creators in Ghana

Meta has announced a major expansion of its monetization features, specifically targeting content creators in Ghana. This strategic move, communicated to the Ministry of Information by Sade Dada, Meta’s Public Policy Manager for Anglophone West Africa, is set to empower Ghanaian creators to earn revenue through Facebook’s in-stream ads, with plans to roll out similar opportunities on Instagram later this year.

A key part of this initiative is the introduction of ads on Facebook Reels, offering creators an additional stream of income. To qualify for these monetization features, creators must comply with Meta’s Partner Monetization Policies and Content Monetization Policies, which impose stricter guidelines than the general community standards. These policies are in place to ensure the production of high-quality content and to maintain a positive user experience. Advertisers are also required to follow Meta’s advertising standards to ensure that ads create meaningful connections between users and businesses.

The Ministry of Information has lauded Meta’s investment in Ghana’s digital future, committing to further collaboration with Meta and the New Media Association of Ghana. The goal is to explore more opportunities for digital innovation and entrepreneurship in the country. The Ministry expressed optimism that these expanded monetization tools will open up new avenues for Ghanaian content creators and significantly contribute to the growth of the nation’s digital economy.

For content creators looking to take advantage of these new opportunities, Meta has provided a dedicated portal, Meta for Creators, which offers detailed guidance on effectively using these monetization tools.
