Ghana’s Olympic Hopes Dashed as Relay Team Faces Disqualification
Ghana’s Olympic journey came to an unfortunate end as the men’s 4×100 meter relay team was disqualified, preventing them from advancing to the final despite finishing sixth with a time of 38.62 seconds. The disqualification resulted from a lane infraction during a baton exchange, a recurring issue that has plagued the team.
This marks yet another disappointment for Ghana, following a similar disqualification at the 2023 African Games in Accra, where a baton mishap relegated the team to second place. The relay team also faced problems at the Penn Relays, where they dropped the baton during an exchange on the first day of the 2024 World Relays Meet.
This disqualification was the final blow in an uninspiring Olympic performance for Ghana, as all of the nation’s representatives were eliminated from the Paris Games.
