Only a big idea can reverse the economic crisis

only a big idea

As in all election seasons, the people expect to hear the same old politicians repeating the same tired messages.
The people despair and vote the least bad option, not knowing what the next president will do, but just knowing it can not possibly be worse than the current situation.
It is clear to even its most ardent supporters, that the current Akufo-Addo/Bawumia Government is the worst in our history. It has failed on almost every issue.
The seeming hopelessness of our country’s situation is numbing us to the political process.
Nevertheless, it is exactly during times like this that we need big, bold and fresh ideas.
Thankfully, we have a leader with experience and a record of achievement who is thinking about real solutions to our economic crisis.
Thankfully, we have John Mahama who thinks big for Ghana, and dreams even bigger.
The 24-hour economy is a big, bold and fresh idea for Ghana, even though it is not a new one globally.
Countries like United States, China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates have created 24-hour economies which has helped them become the global powerhouses of the worldwide financial system.
In these nations, businesses and services remain operational around the clock, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
This is the secret to their success.
Once a 24-hour economy is implemented, it will lead to a tripling of our national productivity and efficiency.
It will mean millions of new jobs, with new and expansive employment opportunities in every single region, which will mean ridding us of all the new and unnecessary taxes.
This will lead to more money for health, education and infrastructure.
We can start making our own commodities again, and stop importing everything at ridiculously high prices, from rice, bottled water and toothpicks.
Making homegrown Ghanaian products will lower our cost of living substantially. We will have more food on our plates, and it will make us proud because it will be made in Ghana.
A 24-hour economy will bring us greater progress and development.
There are those naysayers who say it can not be done, and we can not and should not compare ourselves to the global economic giants.
Thankfully, John Mahama has a different vision for Ghana, a vision where he believes in its people and our aspirations for a better future for us and our children.
He refuses to think small, because he wants to see Ghana expand economically and diplomatically and send a message across the globe that “Ghana is ALWAYS open for business.”
The international community will see a Ghana working and want to do business here, and invest in its people.
The 24-hour economy will be the “Rising tide that lifts all boats” and all Ghanaians of every region and every background will benefit.
For this to happen, we have to have the same belief in our people as John Mahama.
He sees in us the ability to deliver a better future for our children, and we must see it too.
Mahama is not just another politician. He has shown that when he wants to build something, he can.
During his presidency, we saw unprecedented amounts of infrastructure being built all over the country, including new roads, ports, hospitals, power stations and schools.
All of these were the building blocks for a better future, ruined by financial mismanagement and corruption by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia Government.
We now have a second chance to make things right, for Mahama to finish what he started and give us the better future we deserve.
All we need is to have faith in the people of Ghana and vote for someone with a big idea that can work and will work for us.
