Meslier blunder costs Leeds at Sunderland
[ad_1]
A goalkeeping howler from Leeds’ Illan Meslier handed Championship leaders Sunderland a 2-2 draw at the Stadium of Light tonight.
Meslier inexplicably allowed Alan Browne’s aimless pass forward to sneak past him in the sixth-minute of injury-time to hand the Wearsiders a point that moves them two clear at the top of the table.
Teenage sensation Chris Rigg put Sunderland in front in the first half only for Joel Piroe to equalise 13 minutes later.
Leeds dominated the rest of the opening period and continued in the ascendancy after the break and went ahead when neat play created space for Junior Firpo to fire home.
Sunderland kept going, although it seemed they had run out of time, until Meslier fluffed a routine stop, the ball seemingly bouncing awkwardly and going past his right arm and into the net.
