Shamrock Rovers will travel to double European Champions Chelsea in the new-look UEFA Europa Conference League.

The Republic of Ireland champions have also been handed an eye-catching trip to Northern Ireland to play Larne โ€“ the first team from the country to reach the latter stages of a UEFA club competition.

The New Saints, who also made history as the first side from the League of Wales to qualify, will cross the Irish Sea to face Shamrock and head to Italy to take on Serie A giants Fiorentina.

The Welsh champions, who play their home games across the border in Oswestry, Shropshire, have also been given a mouth-watering home tie against Greek giants Panathinaikos โ€“ who have reached the last-eight of the European Cup on five occasions and lost the 1971 final to Ajax.

Chelsea will make the reverse trip to Greece as part of their six-game schedule.

As with the Champions League and Europa League, for the first time this season all the qualifiers will be in one 36-team league phase, rather than eight four-team groups.

At Friday afternoonโ€™s draw in Monaco a new computer software was used to give each team three home games and three away ties.

The top-eight sides in the table after the initial phase ends in December go straight into the last-16, with the sides finishing 9th to 24th facing a two-legged knockout tie to join them.

The teams in 25th to 36th will be eliminated from European competition entirely.
