Following the successful selection of a flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), conversations have erupted with many political activists vouching for some individuals as a possible running mate for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia; however, the Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Sammi Awuku, has disclosed that the selection of a running mate is not part of the flagbearer’s thinking.
Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show on Wednesday, February 4, the Advisor for Dr. Bawumia’s campaign team noted that the rebuilding of the party is the topmost priority of the flagbearer elect.
“He just won an election; the issue of running mate is not part of his thinking now.”
Meanwhile, some persons believed to be affiliated with the former running mate for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, have urged the flagbearer-elect to maintain Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, for the 2028 general elections.
