Former President, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, is optimistic about Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s victory in the next general elections in 2028, noting the important roles to be played by the rank and file of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to the former President, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, the former vice president and flagbearer-elect of the NPP stands a better chance of becoming Ghana’s next president should the party leadership and membership throw their weight behind him.
He says he knows the thinking of Dr. Bawumia; hence, with the full backing of the rank and file of the NPP, the party will win power again.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his spouse, Hajia Samira Bawumia, paid a courtesy call on the former president to express their gratitude for his crucial intervention in maintaining peace in the party following the numerous attacks launched on him in the build-up to the just-ended presidential primaries.
Dr. Bawumia was elected NPP flagbearer after a fierce contest, polling 56.48 percent of the valid votes cast.
In a Facebook post, Ex-president Akufo-Addo said that “eighteen years ago, I chose Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as my running mate. We stood side by side through four elections.”
“I know his mind, his character, his love for Ghana, and his appetite for hard work. He is loyal to party and country. With the full support of our rank and file and the continued generosity of our supporters, I know that he will lead us back to victory,” His Excellency Nana Addo Akufo-Addo said.
